Barack Obama's star may be descending as I expected it would. Hillary will probably lose to John Edwards in the long run. Like a German guy I met when I was in Fethiye a few months ago told me, it may take America 25 years or more to be ready for a black president. This is also the case with a female president. But it is still to early to get too pessimistic. I think this will be an erratic election with a lot of ups and downs for a number of candidates.
In the end, I'll take Obama and Jesus, but not the Jesus of the Christian fundamentalist Bush crowd. Also, I do not believe Obama is a closet Muslim like some people want to believe even though his dad was an African Muslim and his stepdad was an Indonesian Muslim. He would not a threat for "American" Christian values or the great black/white hope for Muslims either. He is, who is he without a hidden agenda, I believe: a decent guy.
Jesus, of course!
