These photos are so gorgeous! One of my former Turkish students kept telling me over and over that he'd loved to work in Dubai. I can see why. The scenery is beautiful. I don't know about the job opportunities though. So "space age" looking and advanced.... Almost surreal! Thanks for sharing presenting these:)

Am I the only one that thinks that Dubai seems (and, in fact, is) extremely 'artificial'?? Only buildings, and buildings, buildings with no 'history', the sea filled to gain more 'land' so that they can build more.. I don't know.. I don't find anything attractive about this city, sorry...

Yasemin, I used to think the same think, 'the city of artificial'.

On the other hand only less then 50 years ago this people used to ride a camel not 4x4's and used to live in the tents not in these amazing structual buidings. I guess thats why people are amaze how Dubai is develope fast. Amount of money invested.

They do have little bit of history will post soon here. but Brits left the country only 1973.

I used to think that Dubai is artificial. However, if you actually realise the fact that this city has been devoloping so fast, as Derya wrote, you come to understand that it is just a result of this boom. My point is you see all these futuristic and beautiful buildings next to desert, and it just doesn't seem natural. But, hey they had to start somewhere, and the first thing is of course buildings to live and work in, instead of tents. Also, they do not need any land to build more, there is heaps of space here in the desert. What they are doing is spending their money (which they have lots of) to give people the opportunity to live / work / holiday on an island in a desert city. This of course gives the city a difference and a competing edge compared to other places. Who would not want to live on a palm shaped island?? Well, you can do this (only!) in Dubai.

Hi MIRDIFDERYA!
Thank you for this pictures, they are beautiful! And buildings in the city are amazing! Some people want to create something fascinating and wonderful in Dubai and make money, and some people want to invest money in Dubai property and also make money. Because Dubai is a place a lot of opportunities.
