Mawlana Jalaladdin Rumi
"Mawlana says - if the sky is not in love, then it will not be so clear. If the sun is not in love, then it will not be giving any light. If the river is not in love, then it will be in silence, it will not be moving. If the mountains, the earth are not in love, then there will be nothing growing."

As a 'spiritualist and one who doesn't care for 'organized' religions, which divide and not unite, and as a 'Sufi' I thank you for remembering Rumi, in the year of 'Mevlana.'
I wish the people of the earth would pay a lot more attention to his sayings and his philosophy. Maybe we can get Al Gore to pick up another cause of 'global warming' of love and peoples.
He became more and more well known in Europe.
A bigg asset of Turkey.
regards
I wonder if really Turkey? Or Persia? They both claim the rights for the man . . .
he was born in now called Afghanistan...but lived almost his whole life in no called Konya...
if i am not mistaken...
Living in Konya, I know. But does 'living' in Turkey make someone a Turk? A Turkish citizen maybe? But they can still be ethnically Persian?
You remind me of our Princess Maxima, who recently stated that 'a Dutch' don't exist anymore...she will be our next queen.,))
Most translations of Mevlana in English are done by one of my former professors who taught me creative writing. His name is Coleman Barks. He still lives in Athens, my hometown. Last year Turkish Daily News ran an article about him when he went to Tehran and was honored at one of their universities.
Yes, Metin, more of the world should read Mevlana because he taught love and truth just like Jesus before him did. We all need to pay attention to what they said on these values.
And true, Hans, Mevlana, was Afghani. He fled west to what is now Turkey which was under the Seljuks because of the Mongol invasions that was the scourage of that time.
Thank you sincerae: it's a great explanation:)
MEVLANA CELALEDDIN RUMI Said:
Come, come again, whoever you are, come!
Heathen, fire worshipper or idolatrous, come!
Come even if you broke your penitence a hundred times,
Ours is the portal of hope, come as you are."
Bir sey degil, Mirdifderya:)
His philosophy is not exclusive to Islam. HHe transcends all religions.
Sincerae: I lived in Atlanta (Cobb County) for two years. I had friends who went to U of Georgia in Athens, and we used to go to Stone(d) Mountain back in the days.
Small world . . .
Yes Metin, it is a small world. I went to the University of Georgia too.
