Turkish police and taxi drivers

When I read on holiday sites about Turkish taxi drivers that they are a bunch of cowboy's, forget it: they are wonderful comparing with taxi drivers elsewhere. Read here my opinion.
The same with police men/women. They have a bad imago, but in reality, they are more friendly than those in other countries I've been. Only don't ask them the way, when you are lost, they simple don't know...
I have some good experiences with them. And yesterday, when my wife had an accident, they called her when she was at home: if she was safely arrived and was doing well? Yes, this makes them unique, and they deserve a better salary than what they get paid. The screamers in Turkey that they have a right in the EU, they don't belong there, but the ordinary Turks, who struggle day by day, they deserve a better life, with or without the EU.

By reading William's line I breathed a sigh of relief: The word "lazy" has not be invented just for me. :)))

As mostly I enjoyed reading "the little episodes" which are spicing (y)our life.

Raising my glass on "King Hans !" and the friendly taxi-drivers of Istanbul. Sláinte! :)

I agree with Sean, these postings are interesting to read. Most of the time I hear only bad stories about Istanbul taxi drivers.
enjoy the weekend

Very true hans,; that's only will happen when we clear all the parliament and get all fresh minds into the government. They only think about filling up their pockets well maybe most of the countries facing the same problem, but in Turkey everything is so corrupted similar to Italy. They are kind of okay because of EU.

We could be one of the richest country in the world, and we are one of the 7 country that can look after ourselves without needing anything from outside. Imagine, we have to bring electric from outside, while we are having full of sea water and rivers, lakes all around:(

if we could have good politician, then maybe we will change a little, recent election show that this is what Turkey wanted, so they can go on that way, we can't change the mentality:(

Derya, chaanging the mentality means changing the education system....
Thee only commercial national recources Tyrkey has is hydropower, no gaz or petroleum..))
regarding food: in the Netherlands there are 600.000 people working in the food sector, aand we are the third food producer in the world, after USA and France. In Turkey 15 million and still a bad situation..((
