Paying for your residency

When you are staying longer than 3 months in Turkey, without traveling abroad, you need a residence permit. I used my residence book only in 2004/2005. Since I traveled a lot, it was easier for me to buy a visa every three months. Costs: 10 Euros.
A residence permit costs a Dutch 220 Euros for 6 months. For 5 years: 1.100 Euros.
An Italian can buy one for 60 Euros, valid for 5 years. A big difference.
Next to me there was a guy from Greece, he didn't know this. I am curious what he had to pay.
It's not always easy for Turks to get a visa for Europe, but at least you don't pay.

Hello! It's not true that Turks do not have to pay for the visa. A Schengen visa for one years costs something like 100 Euros. Just a "trasfer visa" costs 60 Euros. Unfortunately, it is hard and expensive for Turks. :-(

I agree, that it is expensive for Turks. But it depends on your status. A Turkish busines person get a schengen visa for free. But they have to pay for leaving Turkey , 50 dollars.
The UK used to have different regulations.
Btw, nice design blog site of yours. Have Thursday with some Turkish architects a meeting..))

Hans, the way you put the ticket prices, it really is strange for me. I don't understand: 1,100 euros for the Dutch, and 60 euros for Italians, for the same five-year permit?.. Do you know what the discrepancy is for? I can't think of any meaningful rationale for it. Do the Dutch take 18 times more space than an Italian, for example? Stupid things like that are what keep coming to my mind. Or, maybe there is some reciprocity issue behind it all...

Dear Nihat,
According police officers I spoke with: 'Germans and Dutch let Turkish people pay the same'.
I know that this is a lie, since I deal with this issue for 5 years now.
Also, when you enter Turkey as a tourist you have to pay. Depends from which country you are. American, Dutch, Germans etc. can stay for 3 months while for example people of Modovia can stay for one month. Also here ar different prices. An American had to pay in the past 50 USD, while a Dutch 14 Euro. Its an irrational system.
