Should we stay or should we go now?
Meetings and meetings. Announcements, warnings, threats, statements, counter threats and counter warnings. And so on. Is Turkey going into Iraq or not? I thought that a regular army can not win a war if the enemy are guerrillas. Take a look at Baghdad. 100.000 USA troops and still everyday suicide bombings etc. Will Turkey make the same mistake?

I thought they are already 10km in last week!
So then again Turkey will be called invaders bit like they did in Cyprus, as long as they get out from Iraq after their job finish, it's fine, because Iraqi governments doing nothing about it and Americans has been supporting Kurds more than 15 years.
I saw them with my eyes, 93' when American soldiers came to Hilton for x-mas dinner wearing a Kurdish flag colour of dinner-suit belt:(
Its all about Identity.
Turkey 'Turkyfid' Kurds for so long...
What can you expect of a culture which is denigrade to 'mountain, wil monkey's'..
You get a reaction.
Leave them alone, and dont Turkify them, they are not Turks, neither I am. There is a move in Turkish perception: we denied them their cultural rights, we have to do something...but dont use a Marxist organisation as the PKK to criminalizing Kurds...the lynching already started..(((
But there is one more thing to say:
PKK have a legal media outlet in Europe. PKK is Kurdish but also Marxistic Leonadidas (Yum Yum) organization...
They are not freedom fighters, they are a bucnh of criminals...
So..deal with them...
Turkey obviously won the war against PKK in 1999 after the capture of Abdullah Ocalan.
However, PKK changed its name and with the help of its extensions in other countries (Iraq-Iran-Syria in terms of warfare and some European countries in terms of finance), it is revitalized.
Turkey can win the war once again, as long as it can reach the heart of the terrorism or her "allies" help her to fight it.
Emre,
The PKK is never defeated.
There was a cease fire.
Not one European country is supporting the PKK with financials.
Yes, there are some Kurdish people who support them, but day after day Kurdish PKK members in France, Germany and the Netherlands are picked up by police.
Only Belgium is messed up regarding PKK.
Kindest
actually, we dont accept the term "cease fire" because PKK is not in the position to declare such a thing. in the basic form, they are criminals and you cant take their words serious.
on the other hand, what is a cease fire? why did they declare it? obviously because they lost their ability to kill. they needed time. which also means turkish army won the war.
i dont think the "kurdish issue" can be solved by military means, and actually i dont think a crossborder operation will solve anything. but we cant stop chasing and stopping the terrorists which is a different matter than the unrest going on in southeastern of turkey. i believe that the solution is economic. turkish republic does not distinguish her citizens while "spreading the poverty" in the region. no matter kurdish, turkish or anythnig else, people are just poor, and too little is being done to improve the life standards over there.
sh.
completely agree with you.
